We recently refinished the floor in a 1948 house in Tucker, GA. Parts of the hardwood floors had suffered extensive water damage and needed being replaced. The repair was done with matching white oak flooring, 2 1/4" wide, that was then stained to match the color of the aged existing hardwood.
Here are some before and after pictures:
The pine hardwood floors in the kitchen were covered by two layers of vinyl, glued directly to the hardwood. After a lengthy and difficult removal of the vinyl, we re-sanded the floors and applied three coats of oilbased satin polyurethane. Except for a couple of water stains that were too deep to be sanded out, the floors looked as good as new.
